01

Kasaysayan ng console

The platform brought a Motorola 68000 processor and FM sound into Sega’s home-console line. Its Japanese launch in 1988 preceded its international rollout.[1]

Sonic became closely associated with the machine. The Sega CD and 32X expanded the platform in different ways, creating separate software requirements rather than universal upgrades.[1]

Kahalagahan sa kasaysayan

A modular console family

Revised consoles and add-ons made the Mega Drive ecosystem unusually varied. A game’s required hardware matters as much as its family branding.[1]

The system became Sega’s most widely adopted home-console platform. Published lifetime totals vary with the inclusion of licensed third-party hardware.[1]
