01

游戏机的历史

Neo Geo Pocket launched in Japan in 1998 as SNK entered a handheld market dominated by Nintendo. It brought compact versions of familiar SNK game series to cartridges.[1]

The color successor followed in 1999. Original monochrome games remained part of the family, but compatibility of later color games depended on the title.[1]

历史意义

Arcade ideas in a pocket

The directional stick and compact fighting games gave the hardware an identity separate from SNK’s home and arcade Neo Geo systems.[1]

The monochrome model had a short retail life before SNK shifted its attention to the color successor.[1]
