01

游戏机的历史

32X arrived during Sega’s transition toward Saturn. It required a base Mega Drive or Genesis and additional cabling and power, rather than operating independently.[1]

Two SH-2 processors supported its software. Some titles also required Sega CD, creating a distinct combination of add-ons.[1]

历史意义

The costs of expansion

Its brief life illustrates how an upgrade can complicate a platform’s software requirements during a generational transition.[1]

The expansion was commercially short-lived, arriving close to Saturn and fragmenting Sega’s hardware offering.[1]
