ゲーム機の歴史

Mega-CD launched in Japan in 1991; Sega CD followed in North America in 1992. It added disc storage and hardware-assisted rotation and scaling.[1]

The original tray-loading unit sat beneath the console. The later top-loading model sat beside it. Games used the additional capacity for music, animation and video as well as longer adventures.[1]

Before discs became standard

It explored CD-based game design while preserving the base console’s cartridge library as a separate part of the ecosystem.[1]

The add-on remained a smaller part of the Mega Drive ecosystem than the base cartridge console.[1]
